WARREN ZEVON: His Friends Remember

Former Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna bassist Jack Casady, who played on Zevon's 1989 album, Transverse City, says, "It's a real loss to me. I found out about his disease about a year and a half ago when I called to ask him for help on my solo record. He told me the news and we had a long talk. I was really moved and impressed by his attitude about life and death in general.

He was never a 'pity me' person; he wanted to go out with dignity. I've really enjoyed his take on life and his humor about the circumstances we all face as musicians and as human beings. The good news is that we have his art to remind us of the beauty and the humor and the frailty of life. We'll miss him."
